Finally we all can take a deep breath when it comes to this competition. Finally the wait is over and everybody can now get back to their respective clubs. Because of the nature of the competition players should be given time to relax. This is to enable their dead leg comes back to life. I have seen a situation where players were over stressed and they suffered a big issue that saw such player goes out of play for almost four (4) years. Clubs should learn to give players rest especially when they are coming from big competition like this.
When it comes to big competition like this, we all knows that it is not easy to see a side hosting the competition and also winning it or testing from the medal. In such case the host should be applauded because they deserve some accolade. Just like what I hinted above, it is not easy at all seeing a club hosting and winning such competition. We all knows how strong and competitive the Africa Nations Cup is.
Truth be told I have always criticized the Cameroon side. Immediately the competition started and I saw their performance I said to myself that they will never go far in this competition. The reason for such word was just because of when I saw how they performed with their first match, my mind tells me they won't go far unless the referee decides to support them because they are the host country. Well, the good thing is that they prove me beyond reasonable doubt that they are a very good side and that they are after achieving result.
They grow gradually into the game and showed us why they are the host country. There is nothing sweeter than hosting a competition and winning it, such celebration and jubilation always knows no bound. This is what this team showed, you can simply sees it in their game play and doing. As the host, they stated their match against Burkina Faso and they were able to put that passed them by defeating Burkina Faso by 2 vs 1 goals. You need to see how this win boost their moral and set them for achievement.
After that match the next one was that of Ethiopia, this looks so easy for them as they defeated them 4 goals to 1. The match was so easy for them. They didn't fail to take advantage of the opportunities given to them. After that match they played against Cape Verde and it ended 1 vs 1 draw. With that they move to the next stage of the competition which is the round of 16.
In the round of 16 they played against Comoros and that match ended 2 vs 1 in favour of the host country, Cameroon. The match was a strong one for them but they manage to scale through and that I must say was amazing. The moment they win in this round, their moral increases again and all they could think is winning the trophy and assuming they did, it could have meant a lot to them. Imagine hosting and winning, so amazing.
The Quarter final stage sees them takes on Burkina Faso and this match really looks so difficult for the host country Cameroon. They have to fight it till the end and they scale through by a narrow opportunity as they wins in the penalty kick. When they got this result you just have to see how they were celebrating because it means a lot to them. I joined them to celebrate too.
After the quarter final fixture they got to the Semi final and here a win will get them to the final. The issue is that they will be paying against Egypt. To cut the long story short they played against Egypt and they lost to Egypt 3 vs 1. It was a really painful experience but I must admit they tried, it wasn't easy to get to this stage. With such lost their final hope is now lost and they fall to third stage team play off. A win will sees third position being crowned and rewarded with some medals.
Since they lost, they will now be playing their third stage match against Burkina Faso. Well, they did and it lead to penalty. The good thing is that at the end it went in their favour, they won the third position spot, you just need to see how they were celebrating. It shows that they really put in their best in this competition. Well, at a time I will say a big congratulations to them, they deserve more than this, this their team are amazing, they came from behind to secure a 3 vs 3 draw and they won Burkina Faso through the penalty kick. This is amazing I must admit.
