A game expected by all from far and wide to be highly and keenly competitive turned out to be completely one-sided. Liverpool went to Old Trafford to colorfully and boastfully claim the 3 points, beating their host 5 goals to nothing while Man United was grinding their teeth in shame of brutal humiliation. The host posed no threat as the visitors leveraged their vulnerability and punished them heavily. Sallah hat-trick was a devastating blow to such a big team like Man United.

The Game

From the beginning of the game, Liverpool wasn't into it as such. In fact, there were a lot of inconsistencies in their approach. The game was almost balanced but the first 15 minutes saw Man United conceding 3 goals already. A reality that not only weakened them but also made them lose total focus.

Man United's tragedy continues to strengthen Liverpool as they continue to push way forward and harder. Liverpool depends on counterattacks, long passes, speed, and tenacity of their powerful strikers. Man U should have prepared for such a style of game. But they didn't. Often the Red Devils forwards don't return after being dispossessed leaving vast undefended areas for Arnold to thrive with the ball.

United has one of the weakest defenses currently. They pose no threat to Liverpool as they effortlessly bypassed them and send the ball to the back of the net anytime the opportunity is made available.

Did Man U strikers threaten the visitor's yard box? perhaps in the first few minutes from Rashford and Greenwood. An effort they both wasted satisfactorily. Ronald on the other hand was playing a defensive game which was practically offensive to the visitors. For most of the game, he couldn't get his head around the ball. And frustration began to build in.

To worsen their sorrow, Pogba that just entered was given a red card that send him out of the game. The red devils couldn't do anything as they watch the visitors slip away with the entire 3 points after suffering a terrible 5 nil defeat.

Mo Sallah

Sallah became the African player with the highest goals in the English Premier League as he edge former Chelsea legend Dedier Drogba. Today's hat trick pushed his goals tally up front against any other contender for the golden boot.

Final Thought

Honestly, I think Man united problem is the coach. As for the squad, they have good and quality players. but are they used rightly on the pitch? Do they have the right formation? That is what failure is all about. It's not about having good players but using them correctly, which Ole woefully failed to do. today's result was unacceptable. They have to put in more effort if they wish to make the top four. congratulations to Liverpool.
