What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today we will talk about the never-ending Anthony Davis trade rumors and how the Lakers can get him with the help of a third team. Let's begin!
Since AD publicly announced his desire to be traded from the New Orleans Pelicans, teams have been really pumped up given a chance to land a top 5 player in the league and the best power forward in the NBA. Rumors and news about the Anthony Davis trade saga have been circling in the league since the day he demanded a trade. The Los Angeles Lakers, of course, is one of the top teams that has been in the conversation searching for another superstar to pair with LeBron James after a season of failure. But, after so many tries and offers, the Pelicans are not satisfied and decided to keep Davis and be patient in looking for a suitable trade offer that can give them the most out of the AD trade.
However, the Lakers still have a chance and I think they need a third team to complete the deal. Recently, the Chicago Bulls have shown interest in L.A.'s young point guard Lonzo Ball and I think that's a great sign to help them trade for AD. Losing Ball is really bad for the team but if you look at the free agents, the Lakers can still sign top tier guards like Kyrie Irving or Kemba Walker. And if they successfully get AD, Walker and Irving would surely love to team up with AD and LeBron in L.A.
So, to sum it up, the trade will look like this; The Lakers and the Bulls will have to send Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and Kris Dunn plus two future first rounders plus L.A.'s 4th overall pick and Chicago's 7th overall pick to the Pelicans, while the Lakers will receive AD and the Bulls, will receive Lonzo Ball.
This is a trade that will benefit all the three teams especially the Pelicans who will get a ton for their future. The Lakers will lose the most number of assets but they will get AD in return. If AD remained healthy for a full season and into the postseason, then, it will be worth it. The Bulls then will get what they want and the Pelicans will surely secure their future and start with Zion Williamson.
