What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today we will talk about the Phoenix Suns and the news that they are trading their no. 6 pick for a veteran point guard. Let's start!
The Phoenix Suns have a serious problem in their point guard position for several years now. They are looking for a point guard who can make plays for them and run the offense alongside young superstar Devin Booker. The Suns finished this season with the worst losing record but as a result, they got the 6th overall pick in the 2019 draft which can be a great asset for trade or they can use it to draft a young prospect. And as a part of their plan to upgrade, they already announced that they are willing to trade their 6th overall pick for a veteran point guard.
The Suns have interest in guard prospects like Ja Morant and Darius Garland but with the 6th selection, I think those two will not be available at the 6th spot. And the worst thing about that is outside those two, the Suns cannot found a gem like them. So, the last resort for the Suns is to trade the 6th pick for a veteran and proven point guard.
And when talking about the availability of veteran guards, Memphis Grizzlies guard Mike Conley is a possibility. Also, Miami Heat guard Goran Dragic can be considered. There are lots of changes coming in the summer as top tier free agents tend to change team and the Suns will likely make an aggressive move getting an elite guard that can solve their problem. Let's see how the Suns handle their roster in free agency.
