What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today, we will talk about some trade rumors involving another Detroit big man, Andre Drummond. Let’s start!
The Detroit Pistons might be looking to start all over again as they try to shop their superstar center Andre Drummond after another season of failure. In my article recently, I discuss there a rumor that Blake Griffins also wanted out of Detroit and now this one. The Pistons are not going anywhere this season and they might not even make the playoffs in the weak Eastern Conference. And with these kinds of situation, I think the Pistons should finally make a move and press the reset button.
Maybe they are trying to see the value of Andre Drummond and choose the best trade offer they can get to start rebuilding. Trading Drummond can give the Pistons a bunch of young players and draft picks in my personal view. Drummond’s value is high because he is currently entering his prime at 25 years old averaging 16.5 points, 14.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks this season. He’s a perfect trade piece that will attract a lot of contending teams who wanted a reliable big man that they can use in the playoffs.
And if Detroit trade him, there are two teams in my mind. The Miami Heat and the Charlotte Hornets. Miami and Detroit can make a Whiteside-Drummond swap plus some trade pieces. That’s something that is not very interesting but it can be great for both teams. Detroit can just let Hassan Whiteside’s contract expire while rebuilding and Miami can get a legit center for their future.
The Charlotte Hornets makes more of sense in trading for Andre Drummond. Kemba has been working on his own to win games and he needs another superstar to help him especially now that he is in his prime. Charlotte can also get rid of their huge contract players like Batum or Zeller. But in exchange for that, maybe their only young player with a star potential (Malik Monk) should be included in the trade to make it a deal. It will be a huge risk letting go of Monk but in return, the Hornets will get a true center they are craving for to pair with Kemba. Again, there are still no legit news about this rumor so let’s wait and see if this will truly happen.
