Will Boogie be the same when he comes back is the million dollar question. His 1 year 5 million dollar contract to the Warriors is a "let's see if you can still play" contract. Low risk and high reward. But historically achilles injuries have ended careers for big men. Smaller positions have faired a little better depending on the age of the player. But let's look at some big men.

Anderson Varejao December 2014 at age 32 - Came back and only played 67 games off the bench in the next two seasons.

Elton Brand who was an all-star player August 2007 at age 28 - Came back in the 2010 season and averaged 15 pts, but admitted that he lost his explosiveness and quickness.

Maurice Taylor in 2001 at age 24 - Averaged 14 and 5 his first 4 seasons and was a hot prospect, after he came back he averaged 8 pts for the rest of his career in relative obscurity.

Boogie has a few things on his side. He's 28, under 30 players fair much better. And he has time to recover. The Warriors are in no hurry, it usually takes up to 9 months to rehab so he will likely be ready for opening night but he doesn't have to rush because the Warriors don't really need him.

He's almost a luxury signing that really puts them over the top.
