It’s the sport of kings, better than Diamond Rings
That’s why we’re here to sing, football.
Sunday in the snow, referee’s whistle blows.
We’ve been warriors toe-to-toe, football. (LL Cool J, Wildcats)
But wait before I move on here is my account verification photo. :) I have been here on Scorum for a few days. Happy to be here, and enjoying my time so far. You can read my full introduction post if you like. :)
Is there such thing as too much professional American style football? Do you get a little teary eyed after the Super Bowl? Or are you tapped out and want to move on to other sports until the NFL starts up again? Are you a fan of Arena football? I will be honest and this might sound prideful, I just can't get into any football besides the NFL and College.
Now back to the topic. Have you heard the news? There is a new league starting up, called the Alliance of American Football. Kick off is Feb. 9th, 2019. So what is it? Well a bunch of folks from the NFL came together to create this league. I was reading some news the other day, and found a post that said "Trent Richardson, is joining the Alliance in Birmingham". I was like, I know that name. NFL running back. What is the Alliance? So I dug a little deeper and found out all about the new league.
Have you all heard about this new league? Seen any commercials for it? I must not be that well informed, and probably am not. haha. So what is this Alliance? Well it is supposed to be an alliance between fans, players and the game. Sounds interesting. But isn't it just football in spring? Here is the exact excerpt from their website:
OUR ALLIANCE
Led by some of the most respected football minds in the game, The Alliance of American Football is high-quality professional football fueled by a dynamic Alliance between players, fans and the game. Fans will be able to stream Alliance matchups live via the free Alliance app while accessing integrated fantasy options with real rewards — for themselves and the players they are cheering on. Players will have state-of-the-art protection on the field and ample opportunities off it. The Alliance will provide players a comprehensive bonus system, post-football career planning as well as counseling and scholarship support for postsecondary education. Founded by TV and film producer Charlie Ebersol and Hall of Famer Bill Polian, The Alliance features eight teams, under a single entity structure, playing a 12-week season kicking-off February 9, 2019 on CBS and culminating with the championship game the weekend of April 26-28, 2019. Who are the coaches? Here is an image again taken from the official website, saying who the coaches are. These are some well known names in Football.
There will be 8 teams. And wow they even have a team here in Phoenix. I really must not follow the news much, haha, because this is the first time hearing about this. I am sure with the NFL kicking off soon we will hear more about this new league. Or will we?
Here is the video trailer:
So I revert back to my earlier question. Is the Sunday after the Super Bowl the saddest day? Do you get teary eyed a bit, and can't wait for the next season to begin? Or are you tapped out, and want to watch other sports for awhile?
I am at least intrigued and if I remember to, I think I will just tune in to the first game or two of this new "Alliance of American Football". Will it fail like the XFL? Oh by the way I read somewhere that the XFL is coming back in 2020. And there is another league starting as well called the National Gridiron League. Do we need more leagues or is the NFL enough? Well I guess the fans of the game will decide.
Thanks for reading!
