The 0% Fee Betting exchange on Scorum was launched last Friday and we were able to test it out for a couple of days. Right now it has some downtime as a bug that was discovered need some fixing first. The brief time on the betting exchange was enough though to get a very good idea of what if will offer and what it needed to get the platform more widely adopted.

My first impression is extremely positive and I'm not easily impressed. Visually everything looked very appealing and user-friendly. This solution of having a semi-centralized betting exchange that gives the benefits of a platform that actually works like what people are used to without a company needing to make massive profit squeezing their customers with high juice is exactly what the online betting world needs. Many Sports betting blockchain projects overly focus on decentralization to try and solve non-issues claiming bookmakers will steal money and bets not getting settled properly. I've been betting for over a decade and can say with confidence that these things don't need fixing. Being able to offer lower margins in a way that is reliable is what online Sports Betting needs and this is exactly what betscorum delivers! Big Thanks for that to the entire team ! Great Job

HOW TO MAKE BETSCORUM A SUCCESS!

It also became clear to me that just having an excellent product alone won't make the betting exchange an overnight success. One of the most important things at the start is for the exchange to be used and have actual solid odds on offer. People that want to use the platform need to be able to get their bets accepted and potential new users who first visit the exchange need to see that there is volume and that the odds are actually good.

Right now this is something of an issue. The amount of betting options and leagues that the exchange offers from the get-go is impressive but might also somewhat work against itself. With the limited amount of users most games either show "PLACE BET" or scam odds that take very big margins. It is really nice to already have live betting but in order to make that work, the exchange simply needs an exponential amount of active members. Something I would do at least at the start now is to have the matches that are about to start on top and a separate area below those for in-play matches. That way new visitors are more likely to see odds being offered and bets being matched.

BE THE BOOKMAKER

With the 0% fees, Betscorum is pretty much the only place online where everyone can become a bookmaker and start offering odds without getting buried by fees and commissions. The biggest target audience for the exchange right now are smaller bettors who mostly like to have some fun by placing some bets. In order to attract this audience to betscorum, we also need people who are willing to act as a bookmaker and that's what I will be doing myself.

I created a separate account last weekend called @scr-bookie and bought 5000 SCR for now that I will use to provide some liquidity on the exchange. The plan is to match the market leading low juice Pinnacle odds on Betscorum on the events that are about to start and those that are shown in the Top Markets if possible. We also plan to have a channel in our SBC Discord Channel where people can request their bets to be accepted and matched. This way the exchange will show more bet offers and matched bets on the front page and everyone can be sure that they get their offers accepted without having to take the scam odds that are most of the time on offer.

I will see how it all works out and give regular updates on how things are moving along. I offered the pinnacle odds on quite some games already on Saturday and many of them got taken up. I doubt that the account will dry up quickly, but also don't really expect much profit. The odds are beatable but also tend to be set really tight. A lot of variance will likely be involved, but it will be very interesting to see how it all goes and I do believe it will help the exchange move forward a bit. The @scr-bookie account lost -36.602 SCR on its first day offering odds Saturday with a total of about 500SCR+ in matched bets.

I also plan on making a guide on how to play bookmaker on betscorum soon. For now, it's a matter of waiting before the bug is found that has the exchange down at the moment.
