We are back again for Episode 1 of My Gaming Life. Today I talk about what this series will cover in the future and what I’ve been up to in RDR2.

Before we get started with today’s post, I want to quickly tell you guys about what to expect in the upcoming weeks with this series. Besides continuing with some Red Dead single player content, I will also be covering the release of Red Dead Online beta. So if you are enjoying the Red Dead posts, look forward to some more.

But I also have plans to cover a couple of different games starting soon. Here’s what I have in store:

  1. Steep: Road to the Olympics Pyeongchang - I’m looking forward to posting about this game. There already seems to be a nice group of users on here who like skiing and snowboarding. I’m looking forward to sharing this great game with you guys over the winter months.
  2. F1 Racing Series - My goal is to cover a variety of games and sports with this gaming series. I think it would be great to have some racing posts on here. I'm not very knowledable about racing in real life, and so I struggle with some of the more realistic elements of this series. Hopefully I can get some useful feedback from you Scorum gearheads.
  3. Shadow of the Tomb Raider – Since this game released right before Red Dead, I held off from playing it. I have 100% completed the first 2 games in this trilogy and plan to do the same for this game. When I start playing Tomb Raider after RDR2, I’ll be sure to share it on here.
  4. Retro Games – I have quite the large retro game collection. Besides still owning all my original games, I collected games throughout the years. Additionally, having spent time in Japan, I was able to buy even more games while there. Old school gamers look forward to that.

As I said above, I will continue to cover Red Dead with a variety of content. I hope to have lots of RD Online content when it releases at the end of the month. Feel free to recommend games you want me to cover in the future.

Now finally, for today’s post. We take a look some character customization and speculate about RD Online. I’ll cover some leaked info about the online mode and about playing as cowgirls. Now let’s get into it~!

Getting a Makeover

One game mechanic that really stood out to me, and to many other gamers, was how RD handles hair customization. For the sake of realism, the game abandons how almost all other games approach hair customization, and instead, release solely on a realistic hair growth mechanic. If you want long hair you have to wait and grow it out. Like to keep it clean cut, get use to visiting a barber a lot. Facial hair grows daily.

In an attempt to try and grow the longest mustache possible, I played and beat the entire game and never shaved my mustache once. However, I only was able to get it to a 9/10 on length. I even tried drinking hair tonics but with no avail. I never could reach the mythical 10/10 mustache.

Dressed to Kill

As with almost all games, I spend so much time buying close and customizing my character. I ended up with lots of different styles and saved outfits. I’m really curious what will all be available for us for RD Online. For me, some of the best outfits in the game can’t be bought. They have to be crafted from hunting legendary animals. I’m hoping that will be present in the online mode. I can’t wait to go hunting for a legendary bear with my friends.

Base Building

Some form of base building or upgrading appears in more and more games lately. If handle correctly, I really enjoy it. Metal Gear V and The Division both come to mind as games that handled base building well. RDR2 base building is more akin to The Division. It’s not massively extensive but does offer you to progress and upgrade you home camp. Almost everything you need can be had at a fully upgraded camp. Getting the fast travel option from upgrading Arthur’s bed is a must as soon as you can afford it.

That's Miss to You

As I’ve mentioned before in previous posts, RDR2 is so much about relationships. How they grow and how they fall apart. It’s about friendships and about lovers. We do know according to released info, we will be able to play as both males and females in Red Dead Online. For those of you who have played the single player story, you know one of the most deadly outlaws is a woman, and one to not be messed with.

Beautiful Filly

Here’s a quick tip: while playing the single player one of the fastest horses can be caught for free. Don’t waste your money on buying horses or trying to steal them. Go out and hunt down the pure wait elite horse. I’m going to assume this horse will not be able to be caught online. I’m assuming horses will be quite expensive to buy online as they are the most crucial additions you need.

Stay Tuned for More

And that’s a wrap on the first proper episode of My Gaming Life. Give me a follow if you want to see more. And as always. Any thoughts or comments are always welcome. And remember, if you have any strong recommendations for games you would like to see, be sure to let me know.
