The super eagles of Nigeria has qualified for the 2019 edition of the African nations cup in cameroon after they played out a 1-1 draw with south africa in group E qualifying match at the FMB stadium in Johannesburg, an home goal by Buhle Mkhwanazi in the 9th minute gave the super eagles the lead but an easy equaliser from Lebo Mothiba levelled it for the host.

Other group E fixtures lybia trash Seychelles 8-1 Nigeria now have 10 point from five games with a game left to play why south Africa remain second on nine point with the same number of games.

The overall performance of the super eagles, talking about the performance of alex iwobi trying to influence the general performance of the super eagles, but looking at it alex iwobi to some extent in that game he wasn't really really up to what most super eagles fans are expecting from him. What must have been responsible for it?

First and foremost congratulation to the super eagles for qualifying for afcon for the first time since 2013 that was the last time we won and that was the last time we went to afcon, but great actually that we are back into the tournament again that alone is joy, joy in more joy that maybe can overwrite the unhappiness that we might be experiencing with the performances of some of our players including alex iwobi.

I think one thing that might have been responsible for his not too well of his performance , it wasn't really the best performances, why because I think the coach played a formation that we saw last in the world cup I think the game we played against iceland, 3-5-2 formation that had musa pairing with. ihenacho upfront and jamiu collins playing on the left wing back position and also kalu playing at the other wing back position that means that ogu and etebo will start the game and then maybe we were been lacking in terms of holding of the ball in the midfield, that was exactly why I felt iwobi dropped deep to help the guys in the midfield and that will definitely affect his performance anytime any day. Now to flash back to the game between Nigeria and England few matches to the world cup when we were preparing for the world cup , iwobi played the first half , he was very very underwhelming but then as soon as he switch and move closer to ighalo in the second half things changed with a lot more difference in the game a lot more opening the chances were coming.

The last time iwobi performed very well was the game against Lybia when we won like 4-0 , in that particular game he played a 4-2-3-1 formation that had him play in the whole he didn't have to bother more about the defences duties but this time around, I think we were playing a little bit more technical south africa side that were moving the ball so well and we have good interchange of play, the coach felt to hold them to avoid them for having a whole lot of control, he has to shock the midfield so that things won't work out for them the way they planned, that's the main reason that I think affect his performance and when he plays too deep like this we should not expect the best performance from him.

But he play his best when he play close to the striker our close to the wing particular when he plays as a whole or main creator but that cannot be said for everything though because at some point too he lost some possession in that areas and he wasn't really as active as you will expect iwobi to be or as he was in his game against Lybia that won four goals to nothing that as which I will ascribe as him not performing too well today but all in all I think it wasn't still a performance to me that was the worst for the day. When we talk about Nigeria and the general performance I think that was responsible for his poor performance

That's been a whole lot of thought about john ogu able not been having playing time with the super Eagles five years ago was when john ogu just got a match competitively for the super Eagles in Nigeria with his performance today deserves to start more games for the super Eagles of Nigeria. Though he was getting calls but not having playing time.

Well first and foremost john ogu hasn't started any competitive game since five years ago, he would have been mad at the coach but concerning his performance today I think the whole team just did their best to just contain south Africa, no exceptional individual performance, it was just an average performance for everybody and him, maybe probably in more games to come he will be showing the coach some reasons why he should be played ahead of some other guys in the midfield.
