After a not so beautiful display, Liverpool would most probably be frightened when facing off against teams from Madrid.

Ever since then, there has been a few group stage knockouts here and there. However, all exits in the knock out stages have come from either Los Blancos or Atletico Madrid.

Highlights from the game at Anfield

Liverpool produced some good display at their home ground. During the early exchanges, Mohammed Salah missed a one on one chance against Thibaut Courtois, after a mistake in the Madrid half.

However, Zidane's men were able to hold their own. Sometimes even defending with nine behind the ball.

Asides the masterclass defensive display from Real Madrid, there were also some moments of brilliance in attack for Zidane's men.

Federico Valverde, the young Uruguayan played at an unfamiliar position in the right-back. Nonetheless, it didn’t stop him from producing the best chance of the game.

Midway into the second half, Valverde hit a long ball that fell nicely on the chase for Vinicius. The Brazilian ran unto the pass, however his first touch was a bit too much, and Allison was able to make the save.

Vinicius misses a glorious opportunity
