Hiya Scorumians - my second try (why that will be announced soon lol). On my 4th day here on this lovely platform I am writing about my favourite sport - Football! This is a contribution to the July Writing Contest - "What Is The Best Sport, And Why?" by @kennybll. I am writing here about Football - the real one - known as Soccer in the US (just to avoid confusion).

As a young kid, aged 6 I started to play Football in the top club of my home town. Wormatia Worms is a known club in Germany, never played a dominating role but was important in the past. The City is the oldest of Germany btw. Read more about the club Wormatia in the Wikipedia English entry.

Football is the best Sport - here is why - some reasons!

In general every sports fan has its own favourite genre they like. Whatever they prefer they are usually united by the love for competition. Probably every lover of any sport will tell you his sport is the best - but Football is better - Why? Football is not only sport, football is a movement that drives passion! Football is played by everyone and everywhere. Football builds bridges globally. Football inspires - Football generates opportunities for poor and rich! Football brings people together! Football is simple! So here some of my reasons why football is the best sport for sure.

1 - Poverty or Wealth does not matter

I started as a street baller aka kid that played football on the street. Luckily i grew up when not so many cars where hitting every part of the city. Many of the best players all-time came from this background, many from poor families that took the opportunity and became world famous in the end. Football can be played by everyone. You do not need expensive equipment compare to Tennis, Golf or Sailing (to name a few). All you need to play are two players (if at all), a thing that looks like a goal (we used our shirts in my youth) and a ball or something you can kick with your feet. That is all! Football is played in the poorest 3rd world countries but also the rich ones play it and love it - this is why Football united and builds bridges. I might use that phrase too often but it is true. Football enables poor kids to become famous and rich. Football teaches team and competitive skills which is required for all young ones in their later working or business life. No other sport provides nearly equal chances to everyone.

2 - Football means Passion

Passion can be seen everywhere in football. It surrounds you wherever you go. International tournament like the World Cup in Russia creates passionate vibes everywhere - in airplanes, trains, public places and the shop around your corner when goals are scored. Football is a sport of heart that you breath. Football is the Soul Music of sport.

3 - Competition

Competition is not always seen as positive - I confess it could lead to violence as well but a health rivalry and competition creates exciting games. This starts in your local club scene where players can become local heroes or idiots (on the downside). But this competition is good for young kids to learn a lot for life! And as a sport it is fun and generates a lot of relations between likeminded supporters - they talk about it, they meet, they engage. Football unites!

4 - Historic Development

Football has been there since ages. Football was played in China already over 2500 years ago before the english officially invented it lol. There are even rumours that the ancient Greeks licked the ball for fun with the feet.

5 - Football enables us to connect

Football is always a reason to talk about and create new relations with people you never met before. It opens doors. Even Football can be dangerous with injuries these old farts love still to talk about it as they are proud of their injuries. i am role model for that - after three cruciate ruptures I had to stop playing and my global career came to an end but I still talk about this, I watch football, i breathe football and I kick balls still - even it hurts.
