Talking points

Higuain is a fat Morata

This might be a premature criticism, but I see things from different angle which makes my premature criticism right at the end. Remember my article on Sarriball flaws here.

65 minutes, 0 shots, 2 offsides, 1 touch in the box, 1 successful dribble and 0 aerial duel won. That is Gonzalo Higuain stats in his debut match in the EPL. That is not a good way to introduce yourself. While Higuain may fit in the Napoli team, I don't see him replicating the same success here in the EPL, at least not with Chelsea. Higuain style is more suited for counter-attack football or receiving Cesc Fabregas esque type of long pass where he has the space to run and blast the ball home. That's not a successful Chelsea striker style.

Strength, ball holding ability, link up play, and teamwork. You must have those abilities for you to succeed as Chelsea top 9. Little wonder Giroud plays so well whenever called upon. Unfortunately he's only good with his head and slow for the fast paced EPL. You should be able to come out and play some one-twos, hold the ball well. I don't see Higuain having any of those abilities. At 31 years going to 32 years of age, Higuain will find it difficult changing a style synonymous with him for over a decade.

I doubt if Gonzalo Higuain will be able to score a total of 9 league goals this season. He is well on track to join the list of well known flops to have dorned the Chelsea number 9 jersey.

Manchester city need a top top attacker.

Look at Pep Guardiola at Barcelona. He had Leo Messi and they won almost everything. Look at him at Bayern Munich and Manchester City. The difference is clear. The absence of a notable game changer is clear. Imposing his tiki-taka tactics have seen Mancity winning in style courtesy of some superb team work. However, certain situations demand the presence of a top player who can make the difference in tight games. Sterling have improved a lot and considered a threat, but he's still far from being that individual threat. Pep Guardiola will hope he is given some funds to recruit someone like Neymar.

His individual brilliance is one that can transform Manchester city into a giant in Europe.
