Hello awesome people, chimzy here with the first football content and I will like to use this say I am really excited to be part of this great sports community… it feels so good to be here to share valuable sports contents and also learn and read from other amazing content creators…

In this post… I will be sharing my view on two of the best football styles to watch… the tiki taka vs the sarriball vertical one touch passing…

But before we dive deeply into the context… I will like to briefly talk about the TIKI TAKA style and the SARRIBALL style (which is the one touch vertical passing football)…

So what is tiki taka?

Tiki taka is a football style that was made popular by the pep Guardiola Barcelona era and was also adopted by the Spain national team during the Barcelona dominance era due to the fact that most of the Barcelona players were Spanish and that system really conquered the footballing world.

The tiki taka comprises of short and intricate passing and movement, high defensive line and buildup play especially from the back with lots of possession and patience…

To successfully play this complex system, the players must possess excellent passing ability, vision and intelligence, and must be able to keep possession and have the vision to pick out players making the runs with great efficiency.

Players who are not technically good on the ball cannot successfully play this system… even the defenders and goalkeeper must also possess great passing ability in order to keep possession and successfully play out from the back…

For some persons, this system is a joy to watch, as it involves players making clever runs in behind the opposing defense and witness intricate passing and through ball needed to break the opponent defensive structure.

While this system is amazing for some people, it is also very boring for some persons too… myself included…

The patient passing and ball possession can make the match feel very slow and more one-sided and boring because the system tries to deprive the opponent as much of the ball as possible which makes the match one-sided.

Pep Guardiola made the system very popular and a lot of football teams found it very difficult to play against.

What is Sarriball?

Sarriball, as it is called, is a system used by the current Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri. The system comprises of quick vertical one-touch passing, with a focus on speed, quick thinking, and passing. Similar to the tiki-taka style, this system also tries to keep as much possession of the ball as possible, attack with a high defensive line and press very high in order to try to win the ball as quickly as possible...

Also, to successfully play this system, the players must possess the good passing ability and technical ability and must have the ability to run and press the opponent for 90 minutes (fitness level is very important to play this system very effectively)… And the forward players must have the technical awareness and intelligence to make the right runs in behind the opponent defense, waiting for the clever pass from the deep-lying playmaker, the defender or any of the two central midfielders…

This system also requires defenders and a goalkeeper with great ball playing and passing abilities… because the system focuses on building from the back and quick one-touch passing…

This system became so popular as Maurizio Sarri used it for his Napoli team and they were regarded as the most entertaining team in Europe during his time at Napoli…

The quick one-touch vertical passing makes it even harder for the opposing team to defend against and as such can create lots of goal scoring opportunities…

Most people love this system and it is very effective and also very entertaining.

Similarities between the two:

This sarriball system is very similar to the tiki-taka due to the fact that they both focus more on passing and movements, high defensive line, and build up from the back and lots of clever runs…

Differences between the two:

Both systems are relatively different in the sense that they both operate on different principles…

Sarriball is more of quick forward one-touch passing with lots of high pressing while tiki-taka is more about short passing and movement and patient build-up play.

So which is more pleasing to watch?

For me, I would say the sarriball vertical one-touch passing is more pleasing to watch because, in my opinion, it feels like an edited and more added version of tiki-taka with lots of high work rate and pressing making the match feel faster and eliminates the slow nature of the short passing in tiki-taka.

So which do you think is more pleasing to watch?… I would love to hear your view…

Have an amazing weekend.
