The women's defending champion, USA broke record with a high margin victory over Thailand. It is the largest margin of victory in the history of Fifa world cup in both men and women campaign. Thailand was tactically brutalized, annihilated, demolished with cruelty and viciousness. I cant imagine myself continue to play after receiving such a heavy beating from my opponent. I'll definitely walk out of the pitch before i go unconscious as a result of to many conceded goals. I feel more for the goal keeper who many would have tagged to be a basket of all nation for allowing such amount of goals get past.
Thailand took part in their second Fifa women's world cup after failing to advance out of the group stage in 2015, loosing two matches and winning just one. They faced the almighty USA women who had been in four world cup finals and won three. They hold the record of most played matches(43), most wins(33) and most goals scored(112) in the history of women's world cup. They've equally lost just one match out of twenty-one group stage matches(17 wins and 3 draws, losing to Sweden in their last group game in 2011).
Morgan{USA} opened the scoreline in the 6th minute but the goal was disallowed as she was caught offside. She then pounced back with a clean goal six minutes later which was allowed to stand. Lavelle score the second and Ho ran with the third and that was the end for the first half. who could have expected the full match to end 13 - 0 with the first half having just three goals. The second half began in earnest as USA kept tormenting their opponent with goals and the goals kept coming and coming and coming. Mewis, Lavelle and Morgan all scored their brace during their six minute of awesomeness where they hit four goals mystically. The scoreline was 7-0 but USA still kept the goals coming till it ended in (13). Morgan 74' 81' 87', Rapinoe 79', Pugh 84' and Lloyd 90+2' made it whole.
A.Morgan really tore Thailand apart scoring goals(5) and assists(3) involving herself in eight goals in a single match. Who else would be a better pick for the woman of the match? After the game, she made 26 goals for USA women since the start of 2018.
