Tottenham won poor Crystal Palace side thanks to Adersen blunders
Tottenham won Crystal Palace with final result of 3:1 after yet another non convincing performance. It's maybe more correct to tell that away side won themselves because Spurs scored two goals after big blunders of Crystal Palace defender Joakim Andersen. This was yet another performance which made me switch off channel around 65th minute. I already did it this season vs Sheffield United, Chelsea, Brentford and now against Crystal Palace. Imagine you have 80% possession of the ball and you create only 1 chance during entire first half, and expected goals 0.14, just to see Timo Werner shot saved by Palace goalkeeper. That is what we could watch in first 45 minutes. Other side was so poor that they didn't create anything a part of some offside situations and blocked shots. Second half brought impression that Spurs finally decided to go forward with more players, but all what we saw was Son's long range effort to the post and yet another Timo Werner poor shot straight into goalkeeper from inside the box plus one sick penalty appeal by same player which Daniel Levy would not give if he was in VAR room. Cherry on the top was conceded goal after one rare attack of Palace which Bentnancur finished with foul for yellow card in front of the box. Eze took the ball and shoot into Vicario's corner and scored. That was suffering poor piece of goalkeeping by Italian. Ange then put Johnson in instead of Bentancur, but that didn't bring much change until 77' minute when he took advantage of fact that Andersen who was in possession of the ball slipped and gave it away. Johnson kicked it and one Palace player ran like angry bull into emptiness, Welshman then sent low cross, which another Palace player failed to block with sliding tackle and ball came toward alone Timo Werner on 5 meter and like local commentator said "Even Timo Werner can't miss that!". Before that Johson missed one big chance from 5 meters sending ball high over the crossbar. Second goal was little Madders magic, he received ball from throw in and sent dream ball inside the box where Cutie Romero was better than defender and sent it inside the net. Very quality cross and very quality jump and header. Third fell after Andersen lost ball on the center and Spurs sent ball in space for Son who ran alone toward goalkeeper and showed how easily he is solving such situation. It was 3:1 and game over for visitors. Three points are there, we continued big row of games in which we scored at least one goal, but recent habit to do nothing in first half is still here just like lack of football actions and creativity. It was pointless possession with a lot of side and back passes. I still struggle to understand why those players need to concede the goal to start playing football ? This opponent was very bad and Spurs will soon see where they really are when they face Aston Villa away next week.
