William Nylander saga is about to end?
There were some big contract questions in the NHL this offseason and just few were solved before the regular season started. While discussion of the contracts of Panarin and Varlamov are paused, the talks about William Nylander getting louder with the last update. mapleleafsnation.com Swedish forward William Nylander is a Restricted Free Agent and still haven't signed a new contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He wasn't in the pre-season camp of the Maple Leafs and now William is in Europe and attends ice practices with the Dornbirn Bulldogs of the Austrian Hockey League. His contract negotiations with the Toronto Maple Leafs continue for a long time already and the whole hockey community tries to guess a result of it. Maple Leafs looks good at the start of the season, they have Auston Matthews, who made a step forward and earned already 16 points in 9 games to lead the League in scoring. Also, there are such good players as Tavares, Marner, Rielly and others, the team is at the second place in the Atlantic division and seems they will have a great season. Anyway, it will be great for Toronto to sign Nylander, he'll make the Leafs offence even stronger. Yesterday the amount of the talks and speculations about Nylander's contract with Maple Leafs raised drastically after the tweet informing William missed the practice with the Dornbirn Bulldogs. Also, they say Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas recently met William Nylander in Switzerland and had was negotiating his contract with Nylander's agent, but still no certain news. This process is so long and tough for both sides, but it's possible we'll know the result very soon. According to rumours, the most possible option is a six-year deal and $6.5M per year. And, of course, there are plenty of thoughts he will join other NHL team. I don't think so, but we'll see. Nylander should sign a new contract until December 1 to have a possibility to play this season, so he has some time to negotiate.
