A Fresh Look For a Fresh Start
Source Things were ugly for the Oilers heading into the All-Star break. It was one of those points in time where a team just needs to get away from everything for a week and regroup. But more importantly it was the break Connor McDavid needed for his first haircut of the season. McDavid had been rocking some caveman lettuce since the start of the season and then I tune into the All-Star festivities to discover that Samson had cut his hair, here's to hoping he doesn't lose his power. Source I'll miss those beautiful locks as the Oilers look to make a push towards the playoffs this season. McDavid has to be a few pounds lighter now so I fully expect him to crank his game up to another level over the final 30 games of the season. McDavid has a monumental task ahead of him as he sits 5 points back from the scoring leader and his team sits 3 points out of a playoff spot. It's time for McDavid to get serious and drag this team into the postseason whether they like it or not. McDavid has been good this season but now it's time for him to be the best. McDavid will have some help after the break as Oscar Klefbom is set to return from having surgery on his finger just before Christmas. Klefbom makes the Oilers good enough to win some games and the rest is going to be heavily on the shoulders of the young superstar McDavid. It's time to block out the media, fans and management. It's time for the Oilers to focus on hockey and put all the recent distractions in the rearview mirror. The club still has a real shot of making the playoffs but at the same time has a real shot of ending up last place in the league, a fate that would not be acceptable this year in Edmonton.
